a note on optimized learning
- being more first principled can boost learning
- e.g. for stats dont be like ok so proportion CI, proportion significance test, 2 proportion ...
- instead, 2 different objectives:
- around what is p hat? how can we engineer a range so that we can be more safe with our claims?
- hypothesis testing (very well motivated)
- known quantities: estimated sigma p hat, p hat, p, etc → how to devise prob that we see something
- we want such an estimate to satisfy x, y, z
- this is kinda the higher math way of doing it (definitions, make propositions, prove everything, slowly build real intuition) and i kinda like it
this would have been much better for me and probably for a lot of people #learningsuite #publishonwebsite
