generalizations
here are some generalizations i have made through reflection & experimentation
disclaimer: these are all from MY perspective (important!) so they may not be true or helpful for you
change of scenery powerful
monotony badunderstanding emotions
analyzing and feeling negative emotions give you positive ideas and emotionsgive feedback to others (if they want it)
always voice feedback even if it is negative; dont be afraid of how they think about you; its so much worse if you keep it insidehonest feedback good
good way to improve: ask for honest feedbacknormalize so quickly so insanely hard to see other perspectives clearly
maybe reflecting can help with thisdifferent people different perspectives
wildly different perspectives, dont assume anything about them, often wrongpatterns
so many patterns and connections everywhere fun and give great understandingconfidence
independent thinking
have your own thoughts, dont be overwritten by other's ideas (push back + filter coef)dont depend on validation
many times dependent on other's approval and opinion, especially if they are cracked, should not (should have learned from po-shen loh)status nuanced—no binary
dont get fooled into "they are good" or "they are bad" there are always nuances; especially dont get fooled to thinking that way about yourself (+1)tm—how learn better
whats really important to think about is how could i have learned bettersel skills always useful
be kind
"be kind, everyone is fighting"attack discomfort
great example is spend 5m starting something i didnt really want to do, then immediately want to do it now (+ see the value of it), e.g. wmeetingseffort good
have infinite food and recovery methods (can reset when cooked) so give everything your all, and you will be chillingcorroboration
use corroboration to find truth in things that you cant experience and can only ask others aboutvulnerability for connection
use vulnerability, honesty, transparency, openness for fasttrack to deep connectionart capturing experiences
poetry and writing and photography and music are all really nice ways to capture experiences, something that people dont usually do and is generally very hard (because diff perspectives insanely hard to comprehend for humans)intentionality
be much more intentional and active with time in general (and specifically at orbit)slow down and appreciate good
disjointed ideas not the best (80-15-5)
for the most connection max, go for stuff that are all clustered together, but defs work on other stuff to gain perspective (just dont explore in completely random directions)understand focus/goal
for research: make sure to understand what exactly the focus is onmeditate to despeed
"should meditate for 15, and if you dont have time for it, you should meditate for 30"checkins (2m)
periodic and for workplan then lock
right before working, make plan for how to lock and then lockdont stay up late
sleep onset
PLS PLS PLSstrive for output
think abt maybes
spend time thinking about "maybe"s, they are good for getting thoughts down but not good for reflection (like taking something murky and getting clarity)spend money bias
many times spending money is overwhelmingly good but have bias to not (probably good investment to spend money to be able to not have to think about things)do trials for products
is just very aligned with my incentive structure, good exploration, dont have to pay up frontmaintainability; minimalism for projects
for success of project that will be very big, dont be lazy and just pile stuff on; actually understanding code base makes making changes much easier (keep everything simple, preferably under 200 lines)understand opportunity cost
zoom out to things that we could / might should be doing was good, put more todo list items (make work more pressured and fast)no more comas!!
food comas, cookie comas, yt comas, water comas, any over indulgence that creates listnessless / a unwillingness to do things; can just consume but stop before it is baddont over organize / document
only do stuff when i actually need itadd new action items to actions
so that i have to look at it, and see the other more important thingslook back at old thoughts
looking back at old thoughts is always great (probably another way to reset)bias towards past todo
many times have todos from previous days that i was excited about but when i actually do it later its not as fun (1. when i dont want to do something, consider why, maybe dont do it, 2. when really want to do something in the moment, dont relegate it to future self, just do it (the excitement often fades away))maleability of current task/event
an important part of instantaneous intentionality is that not only are we maximizing the thing were doing in the moment, we should also consider changing the situation you are in to be doing something else (decision making blunder to not consider not going on the retreat until i heard that lucile wasnt going)
